Mission completed – joined the army in pink to help beat Cancer
Well done to the WRM team for their participation and fundraising efforts for this year’s Race for Life in Solihull on 21st June.
I’m afraid I had to resort to cheerleader and photographer as my riding injuries prevented me being able to walk/jog that sort of distance. However the rest of the team did a great job.
How the ladies faired
A special mention must go to our speedy Louise who finished 6th (out of over 2,000 entrants) in a brilliant time of around 19 minutes.
I think she may have been the 2nd or 3rd adult over the finish line – there were some very fast kids who just sprinted all the way!
Natasha & Sarah, who did a mixture of running and speed walking also completed the course with very good times. Kayleigh, Fiona, Heidi and Charlie paced themselves nicely to take in the atmosphere but still finished respectably, in mid-field.
A huge thank you
Thank you everyone for taking part and giving up their Sunday morning – and to everyone who has given us sponsorship.
We raised £315 via the online Justgiving site and an additional £275 in cash, which will be donated to our local Cancer Research group.
With gift aid taken into account, that should be over £700 raised to help beat cancer.
Updated 19th July 2015: Very many thanks to all who have donated to the team's charity pot.. since the blog above was posted, another £20 has been added to the just-giving site taking it to £335 and a CAF cheque was delivered to me yesterday for £200. If it has all been gift-aided than I think that is over £1000 we have raised to help beat cancer.
