Running for a worthy cause

We believe in actively supporting charity, and each time we get involved, seem to agree to something more challenging than before!

In recent months several of our ladies took part in the Run for Life and a team of our solicitors rowed a marathon.

This time it was the Birmingham Half Marathon!

For some of our team, it was their first half marathon and a huge challenge as running was something they had taken up only a few months before.

Supporting The Brain Tumour Charity

As always we have been raising money for a worthy cause, this time The Brain Tumour Charity.

This charity has always had strong ties with the firm and we try to raise as much awareness and money for them as possible.

Over the last few months we have been seeing our fundraising total rise and rise and seeing this has added extra motivation to our runners who have been up early training before work and running in the dark after work to try and get themselves ready.

Sunday 16th October was race day, and it looked like we would be running in the torrential rain. However, after taking part in our warm ups and soaking-up the atmosphere, the sun broke through and stayed shining for the rest of the morning! Perfect conditions.

With some of our runners more experienced than the others, our team members all began at different times. Each runner had their sights set on achieving a personal goal – which for some, was simply to finish!

A great atmosphere

Both the atmosphere and the turnout was amazing, with people raising thousands of pounds for all sorts of well deserving causes.

There were also some very whacky (and very hot) looking costumes which must be applauded.

Thousands more came out to support the runners, with some of our own supporters in Cannon Hill Park and at the finish line. It’s amazing how much a friendly face gives you the push you need for that next hill!

How we faired

Louise achieved our quickest time, at a very speedy 1 hour 39 minutes and crossed the finish line first to greet some of our supporters who had come to watch.

Our remaining four runners, Dan, Michelle, Charlotte and Becky, all made very respectable times between 2:11 and 2:29, passing The Brain Tumour Charity’s support stands around the course to give them a wave.

A fantastic fundraising effort

We would like to thank everybody who has already donated to our JustGiving page. As it stands we have raised a wonderful £960! With gift aid added, this brings us to just over £1150.

All this money will go to research into brain tumours to try and find treatments and cures. But as one of the most unknown and untreatable forms of cancer this charity will always need more funding.

Wallace Robinson & Morgan will be continuing to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity over the coming months with several more events in the pipeline. We will be hoping to reach our target of £5000 so any extra pennies you have will always make the difference.
