Thank you Solihull Bowling Club

It has been a very busy year and we donít often get chance to socialise after work.

So we were really pleased Solihull Bowling Club invited us to try our hand at the sport. And what a great time we had!

An evening bowling in the sunshine, and traditional afternoon tea as refreshment. It was just what we needed for some teambuilding and fun after the office had closed for the day.

The Solihull Bowling Club

The club is based to the rear of the Ramada Solihull Hotel in a lovely setting close to the town centre. It also happens to be just round the corner from our Drury Lane office.

The green itself is reputed to be one of the oldest in the country, possibly dating back some 700 or 800 years.

A friendly and thriving membership

The club continues to thrive, with their friendly members enjoying midweek competitive league bowling and/or active Social bowling throughout the week and at weekends. They run various competitions for members throughout the season, together with a number of friendly matches.

Thankfully, some of the clubís members were on hand to pass on their expertise and tried to ensure we got somewhere close to the jack.

After a fair number of practice, followed by a pairs match and, of course, the refreshments, we got on to the serious knock-out stage of the competition.

The rain didnít quite hold off for the whole evening but that didnít dampen the competitive spirit.

The semi-finalists were Tim, Linda, Alison and Sharon.

Linda and Alison surprised themselves (and last yearís winner, Tim) by making it to the final with Alison taking the glory. The club president presented Alison with her prize which included a vintage wooden bowl.

We would like to thank the bowling club for their warm welcome, patient tuition and for a great evening.

Why not try your hand?

If you are in the area, weíd highly recommend you drop by and see the Bowling Club. Itís a lovely way to spend some down time and youíre sure of a very warm welcome.
